The Malta Chamber of Scientists council has held a meeting with the Director for the Institute of Applied Sciences (IAS) at MCAST, Ms Paula Grech Bonnici, where a discussion was held on the collaboration of the two entities towards the strengthening of science and research in the Maltese Islands.
The two entities discussed the need for creating a strong relationship between MCAST students and local stakeholders which include government entities and the private industry. This is essential to have a better understanding of the available career opportunities and to increase collaboration for dissertation projects within the institute.
Points were made on increasing the opportunities for MCAST lecturers to conduct their own research. This would be of benefit to the students since it offers opportunities to work on research projects and will present the opportunity of research as a possible career path.
