The Association of Italian University Professors and Researchers in Malta (Associazione dei Docenti Universitari e Ricercatori Italiani a Malta: ADURIM) within the Malta Chamber of Scientists was created at the instigation of the Italian Embassy in Valletta, the Italian Institute of Culture, and thanks to the active support of Professor Giuseppe Di Giovanni, Professor of Physiology and Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta. The Association brings together about twenty Italian Professors and lecturers at the University of Malta as well as some scientists working at research laboratories and institutions outside academia on the island.
ADURIM was launched during a successful event at the Institute of Culture on January 19th, “Can we predict earthquakes?” presented by Dr Sebastiano D’Amico (Department of Geosciences – University of Malta) http://www.esteri.it/mae/en/sala_stampa/archivionotizie/approfondimenti/malta-possiamo-prevedere-i-terremoti.html.
“The local network of Italian teachers and researchers – said the Ambassador Giovanni Umberto De Vito – was formalised following the visit to Malta by the Minister of Education, Research and Universities in October 2016, and reflects the increasing relevance of the scientific dimension, technology and innovation in the Italian-Maltese cooperative relations. I am confident that ADURIM’s activities will go from strength to strength in the coming years, positively contributing to the development of the scientific bilateral relations between Italy-Malta with European perspective”.
Thus, Malta with the new ADURIM becomes a significant part of an international networks of the associations of Italian researchers abroad, encouraged by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which unites similar associations of Italian scientists abroad operating in over 15 countries worldwide.
The commitment of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the investigating service of the world passes through the enhancement of the associations of Italian researchers abroad, which are constantly supported by the network of Scientific Workers, Embassies, Consulates and the Permanent Representation in the world.
