Kids Dig Science: Genetics and Race

Date and Time: 7th May at 3pm and 8th May at 11am

Venue: Spazju Kreattiv

Meet Sean and Jeremy as they navigate the science of human evolution, chatting with a  cohort of fluffy, colourful ‘experts’ in the field of genetics and human development. Scientists have now thoroughly demonstrated the lack of a biological basis to the age old social construct of racial categories. In other words, there is no biological reason to treat people differently because of their appearance. This journey takes kids to the ends of the earth, from Africa to the Arctic Circle and back, as our actors and puppets trace the path our ancestors took 100s of thousands years ago.

Join us on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th May @ Spazju Kreattiv as we discover why some people are darker skinned, shorter or have narrower eyes, why some have wide faces or red hair. This exciting interactive performance and subsequent, hands-on workshop are all about how science and research can unite us in the knowledge that we are all equal and that diversity is the cornerstone of human success.
