A year on since the first case of the Covid-19 virus in Malta, Malta Cafe Scientifique’s event provides a space where people can pause and reflect on what we have learned so far. We have all shared in the hardships of living through a pandemic that has ravaged the world. With the development of a number of effective vaccines, an end does seem to be in sight, but this is not the time to be complacent. We need to reflect on how we got to where we are now, and how we can prevent another pandemic from happening again. Malta Cafe Scientifique has invited Dr Raquel Mediadela, an epidemiologist who had worked extensively on the Ebola and Zika viruses, who currently works for the World Health Organisation COVID-19 Intelligence team, to explain the science behind pandemics and to answer your questions on COVID-19.
