The importance of having a good, inspirational teacher in the formation of young academics and scientists cannot be overstated.
Join ĊineXjenza on 13th of December at 7pm at the Spazju Kreattiv cinema to engage in a conversation about the important roles that teachers have in forming young academics, and how their role has evolved during the years. The event consists of a screening of the Academy award nominated film ‘Stand and Deliver’, which is based on the true story of Jaime Escalante, a Los Angeles high school teacher who inspired a group of disillusioned working-class Latino students to take the Calculus AP exam.
Following the film, there will be a discussion, featuring guest speakers from the Malta Mathematical Society. In an informal atmosphere, they will share their experience of the modern educational system and their thoughts on how it can improve, and they will also take questions from the audience.
Date: 13th December, 7pm
Venue: Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta
