Nov 2011 - You, Your Brain & Your Computer

The nature of human intelligence has always been a source of deep fascination. Over the past century, with the emergence of programmable electronic computers, the question of intelligence took an additional twist, now asking whether and how computers may be endowed with intelligence, understanding and even consciousness, and how computers may help us understand the nature of the mind.

In this talk, Prof. Kevin Camillieri discussed a few key questions: Can computers be endowed with intelligence, understanding and even consciousness? Will they help us understand the nature of our own mind? And, what techniques are needed to detect brain signals (the wired skull-cap is a clue) and turn them into information us humans can understand?
